The Garfield County Fair prepares to kick off more than a week of events! The Garfield County Fair boasts two new events during its weeklong schedule of events August 3-12. This year the fair will include a Horse Whisperer and a Hunter/Jumper show in addition to its already brimming schedule of Western horse shows, 4-H and FFA exhibitions, Junior Livestock Auction, CPRA rodeo, Junior and Kid’s rodeos and wrapping up with Tracy Byrd and Little River Band in concert. read more...
Upgraded fairgrounds facilities developing for 2007 Garfield County Fair Nothing has "stalled" the increase to nearly 200 horse stalls at the Garfield County Fairgrounds over the last few months. In addition to the building of an entirely new barn with 36 stalls, the existing horse stalls at the fairgrounds have been leveled and replaced. Merchandise vendors are needed for the Garfield County Fair August 3-12 Merchandise vendors are invited to present their wares during the Garfield County Fair at the fairgrounds in Rifle August 3-12. Vendor spaces are ten feet by ten feet in size, but vendors can reserve larger spaces as well. Vendors are accommodated surrounding the base of the grandstands where the heaviest foot traffic is during the fair. read more... Garfield County Fair combines royalty contests On Monday, May 14, the fair board voted to combine the Garfield County Fair Royalty and Rodeo Royalty contests, instead of holding them in two separate contests as in past fairs. The chance to become queen for a year or to become a true princess is short. Registration ends May 25 for the royalty competitions. This year’s queens, princesses and Little Miss winners will be chosen at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 27 at the Gus Darien arena in Carbondale. read more...
4-H Leaders immediately needed for spring and summer projects Knowledge is needed. Leaders to direct 4-H activities in Glenwood Springs and all of Garfield County are needed to meet the interest of area young people in a range of project categories. Projects are getting underway, and the demand for leaders to direct activities has surpassed the number of available 4-H leaders. read more... |
